At Chapman we believe in charging you a fair price for our products. Which means we often cost more than other canvas and leather bags.

And we have to say, we think we’re worth the difference.

If a bag looks similar but is significantly cheaper its probably proof of that old adage, if it sounds too good to be true it usually is.

It’s certainly worth asking questions before you buy.

Is the bag made from high quality locally and sustainably sourced materials?
Are the people who made the bag skilled craftspeople who have learned their craft and earn the decent wages their work should command?

Is the bag made to the stringent standards we demand in Britain?

Will your bag last you a lifetime. And can it be repaired if it’s led too busy a life?
Does your bag even know what a generous seam allowance is? Take a look a the internal seams… nice and wide… or not so as you would notice?

Maybe that deal is also looking a little less generous now? Not only cheap but possibly nasty if the bag is made in a sweatshops by poorly paid workers exploited by middle men before collecting a few thousand air miles travelling to you.
